LabLog eclipses paper notebooks as the state of the art documentation for thousands of laboratory documents, notes, and inventory items. Lablog allows you to create thousands of notes and inventory items far more quickly, saving you precious time.

You can automate and customize labeling schemes, whether it's applied across each batch of bulk generated items or simply replicating a single inventory item to save time when similarities exist. This is achieved by using a naming template, containing a set of dynamic tags.

When designing a bulk create or import operation, you can use a set of pre-defined dynamic tags in the name field. At the time of creation or import, each dynamic tag is replaced with the appropriate text. This ensures error-free labeling of your items without duplicating or adding irrelevant tags. Dynamic naming tags help you easily identify and search notes and inventory items.

Automated Labeling For Inventory Items

The inventory modules allow you to copy existing items to create multiple new tags. This allows you to quickly create a group of related items. To specify the newly created items, you can design a custom labeling template:

1- Launch the inventory module by clicking on the Lab Inventory option in the top right navigation menu.

2- Once items are added to a group, click on an item to open the item viewer.

3- Click on the Replicate button in the menu on the right. The item copy window allows you to specify which group and column you want the replicated items to be placed into as well as the number of copies needed (shown below).

4- You can leave the Dynamic Naming Template blank to re-use the name of the current item in the copied items. Follow step 5, if you want the system to rename the replicated items.

5- To create a custom naming scheme, you can use the following tags combined with any static text:

- Type #{unique}# in the Dynamic Naming field to assign a short (8 character) unique ID to each replicated item. If your number of copies is 10, you will get 10 unique IDs.

- Type #{number:1}# in the Dynamic Naming field to assign a unique incremental number to the replicated items (only when the number of copies is greater than 1. Additionally, you can start the increment from the number assigned in the tag. For example, if an item name is 100, the next would be 1001. Type Copied Item #{number:1}# in the Dynamic Naming field.

Remember to click on the "link to copied items" in order to establish a link from the parent item to the replicated items.

This feature allows for replicating all metadata within a sample/item while only changing the name; resulting in time saved.
