In LabLog you can link internal and external resources to your methods, tasks and inventory items.
External links are links from your lab notebook to an external resource like a website. This allows easy access to external resources like a supplier's price list.
Internal links allow you to link methods, tasks and inventory items to each other.
Unique IDs and sharing URLs
Everything in LabLog can be identified using its auto-generated unique ID. You can view the unique ID and the sharing URL for methods and tasks by clicking on the Share and more... Icon in the listed items.
You can view the unique ID and the sharing URL for inventory items in the item view panel -shown in the screenshot below.
Linking to a method or task
Click on a step in a method or task to open the step editor. Click on the Step menu and select Link from LabLog to open the link editor (shown in the screenshot below).
Select the link type, filter item type and the item you want to link to the selected step in your method or task. Click Done to save your choice.
You can view and browse to the linked items by clicking on the Link menu in the step editor page.
Linking to an inventory item
You can link methods, tasks, or other inventory items to an item in the inventory. To link an item copy the sharing URL from a method, task, or inventory item. Then paste the URL in the Attach a link text field of an inventory item (shown in the screenshot below).
If you are using the bulk import feature in the inventory module, you can use the #LINK# and #REVERSELINK# columns to create links between the imported items and current items in your inventory.
The screenshot above shows a sample Excel document used for importing new items into the inventory. To link the imported item to existing items in your inventory create one or both columns with a title row tag #LINK# and #REVERSELINK#. The values in these columns (blue text) are the existing item IDs that will be linked to the imported items (#LINK#) or will have a link to the imported item (#REVERSELINK#).
You can use a comma separated list of IDs to link multiple existing items to the imported items.
